I had this bright idea to sell my website space for blog posts, like an ad. But not an ad. The pages are called "Tiny Billboards” that can be used as a canvas to display your posts, storytelling, short stories, or information visitors can read in 2 minutes. At the end of your blog post, you list your product offer, book, or service. (see examples below)



Each Tiny Billboard costs $500 for 600 words, and the length of time for the Tiny Billboard is Forever. That’s right. I think it should stay on my website forever, giving you maximum exposure.



Well, that is until, for some reason, the website company sells out, the technology changes, or the company goes out of business. Who knows, all of which is out of my control. Either way, I think we got some years before any of that happens.



People are concerned about website traffic and having the right audience when it comes to advertising. This is not a niche site, so you don’t have to worry about the audience, and you don’t have to worry about web traffic, either. So don't ask me, " How many unique visitors visit my site," or what's the average EPC “ or any crap like that. It doesn’t matter because the chances of you making sales are slim and next to none.

Most people don’t make money on social media, and paid advertising doesn’t work in most cases except for the people selling it. You’d have better odds of winning at a casino. You need something where the cost of advertising your product is free. Imagine being at a casino and playing unlimited blackjack hands for $500.00. Now the odds would be in your favor.


Oh, you don’t think it would work? What if it was Stephen King’s website or a Billboard on a lonely country road somewhere and Dolly Parton saw it, or a famous producer saw your story in an old issue of Readers Digest magazine and wanted to make a movie, or the president of a major book club came across your blog post and bought your book and made it the Book of the Month. Word of mouth can spread like wildfire from one book club to the next when the right person sees your work.

You are contemplating what will light the fire. Do you remember 50 Shades of Grey, E.L. James’s success story? The book sat on her website for five years and then sat on Amazon with bad reviews for another five years. She did very little marketing, no Twitter, and no paid ads, and the book took off one day. She can't explain what happened, except someone offered her a movie deal. If successful people were honest about their success, they would tell you that luck played a significant role, but no, they want you to believe they are genius and only through hard work and sacrifice can you achieve it.


The Law of Averages and Safety in Numbers


Tiny Billboards is not a single, one-time ad or pay-as-you-go. Instead, it is designed to keep you in the game for the long term. Compare it to a $40 classified ad, and if you run it ten times, you spend $400, or Google pay per click $2 per click and 500 clicks, you'll spend $1,000--the result is dismal sales and little profit. With Tiny Billboards, you have a one-time cost of $500 and keep your post on the site forever.


Like many things, the outcome is always uncertain, and many people focus on the result instead of the process. The focus is to write a good blog post and product offer, promote your Tiny Billboard on social media, and let visitors spread the word.
