What You Don't Know Can Kill You

My 5 Star Review Control Your Drinking by Sheri McInnis

If you have a drinking problem or know someone who has one, then you need to read this book. It's the best book I've read on alcohol and substance abuse. What you don't know can't only hurt you, it can kill you! Learn about your body, God's greatest creation--the human body.

This book will change your life--it's for drinkers, non-drinkers, and anyone with any kind of addiction. It's an eye-opener into what causes people to become addicted in the first place. The author gives you a clear cut solution without giving up drinking permanently. It's easy and simple to use without attending AA or therapy. Knowing how your body works and why people get addicted is paramount. As the author said, she discovered that her addiction was not her fault. I didn't understand that statement until later on in the book. Too much long-term uninterrupted consumption of any substance can lead to addiction. When you consume something that tastes good or pleasurable to your senses, your brain produces jolts of dopamine that gives you energy, confidence or a wonderful feeling that makes you want to consume more, more, and more, until you're out of control--Addicted. Then after continued abuse your brain will stop producing dopamine and send you into depression or serious health issues. The author lays it all on the line--straight talk about of her own personal binges, and how the psychological effects and abuse nearly destroyed her. There is a sprinkling of Memories & Blackouts throughout the book--mini flashbacks into her personal life of over 20 years of alcohol abuse.
This book will teach you more about your body than you ever learned in school.
The brain heals itself if you give it a break from doing what you're doing. You don't have to give up drinking--you don't have to give up eating--you don't have to give up the things that you like if you catch the addiction early enough before it causes irreversible damage. You just need to interrupt the cycle--change your routine and let your brain heal your body. Can you do that? Sure you can, the author shows you how.
This is the best book I've read on alcohol abuse without giving up drinking. I wish I had it to give to my father before he drunk himself to death. Knowledge is power. Worth far more than the price of the book. 5 Stars

Take care of your body it's the only place you have to live.
