The Garden of Eden

*

I had this dream, a vision of the past,

A paradise where love and beauty last.

The Garden of Eden, where life was free,

And all of nature danced in harmony.

Stars lit up the sky, a dazzling show,

And I felt one with all, a cosmic flow.

Love permeated every leaf and stone,

A deep, unending bliss that I had known.

Trees towered high, with fruits and shade for all,

And animals played free, like children small.

No time, no age, no death, just endless youth,

And wealth and status held no power, no truth.

Everyone was equal, no race, no hate,

And hateful souls had vanished from the gate.

No ego or arrogance, no class or pride,

And hunger was unknown, no need to hide.

God spoke to me, "You may eat every tree,

But not the one of good and evil, see."

Forbidden fruit that leads to chaos, pain,

A warning of the evil's subtle gain.

But then my soul was lost, my spirit gone,

As darkness tricked me, sung a siren's song.

And like today, so many are deceived,

By lies and fear, and truth is oft bereaved.

God says, "Rejoice, the day is bright and fair,

This moment's gift, so cherish, love, and care."

But the evil whispers lies in every ear,

And turns the day to rain, to doubt and fear.

Outside, a man stands in front of a church holding the bible for a photo op.

But inside, the preacher is holding a sermon, "the devil made me do it. The deceiver, the liar, the prince of lies, who twists the truth and leads us to demise.”

The devil said, “You hear that, that damn preacher is out to get me, and he’ll get you too!”

So much corruption, chaos in the land,

And we are lost, like grains of desert sand.

This world, not heaven, not paradise,

That I have seen in dreams, a million times.

I swear to you, I feel it in my soul,

That heaven is where we come from,

And earthly hell, the place where we reside,

Where love is often lost, and truth denied.

But hope is there, a candle in the night,

A flicker of a flame, a ray of light.

For when we die, we may return to grace,

And see the world, anew, in love's embrace.

So let us dream, of Eden's pure delight,

And hold the vision, in our hearts so bright.

For though we live in darkness, pain, and strife,

Our dreams may guide us to a better life.

Let us seek love, and kindness, every day,

And banish hate, and fear, and truth's decay.

For though the world may seem to be so grim,

We may find heaven's gate, and enter in.

This world is not heaven, not the paradise,

That I’ve seen in my dreams a million times.

I swear to you

I feel this in my soul

Heaven is where we come from

Earthly hell is where we reside

I don’t know about you but when I die

I don’t want to see this place again.

Over to you now.
